Tax credit extension for first time buyers and current homeowners in San DiegoCategory: Current Real Estate Articles | Permalink Published: Tuesday, November 03, 2009 Tax Credit Extension Promising for First Time Buyers and Current Homeowners! With the tax credit coming due December 1, 2009 home buyers are becoming worried about missing out on the $8,000. First time buyers are flooding the market with intensions to qualify because nothing has fully been approved to extend the tax credit. But with recent news in October, the U.S. Senate has tentatively agreed upon extending the credit along with incentives for move up buyers! The U.S. Senate came to a promising agreement to extend the first time buyers tax credit extending the program to home sales signed, not closed by April 30th. This would allow purchasers to have an additional 60 days to close the sale. The credit extension will also be beneficial to so called step up buyers who currently live or have lived in their home for at least 5 years. The step up homeowners who purchase a new home qualify for $6,500. Income eligibility for first time buyers will remain the same, but will rise for step up buyers to $125,000 for individuals and $250,000 for couples. But remember this has only been tentatively agreed upon by the U.S. Senate. Even though the extension looks promising, first time buyers are not taking any chances and moving ahead with full intensions to buy before the original December 1, 2009 deadline.
